Volunteers and Needs
2025-2026 School Year
Thank you for taking the time to review our list for this year. Your overwhelming support helps us reach two goals:
1) Families will become much more used to spending their free time supporting the band, and
2) this kind of help is what students need on their journey towards artistry.
-
Photographers and Videographers: Document our performances by capturing moments through photographs and videos! Volunteers are asked to submit their photos by E-mail and videos through either Google Docs, YouTube links or iCloud.
-
Concert Setup Crew: Volunteers are asked to help set up chairs, stands, instruments and music stands, as well as taking them down at the end of the performance. Our goal is to have everything back into the rehearsal room after the concert is over and prepared for class the next day. Volunteers will be working with student section leaders and others assigned to this role. A typical timeframe for this role is 3:15 PM - 5:00 PM, and after the concert is over around 7:30 PM.
-
Snack and water donations: We like to have water bottles at the students' feet for every sit-down concert band performance. This typically involves a volunteer bringing roughly 80-100 bottles of water. Snacks are primarily donated for the Junior Rose Parade in June.
-
Parade Crews: Volunteers are asked to help pull water wagons, move equipment for students, ride the HSD bus to and from the parade, help with water bottle recycling and snack distribution. Other roles, including helping individual student needs, supervision, bathroom trips will inevitably happen on parade day.
-
Guest lesson teachers: There are likely adults out there who have experience playing an instrument. We appreciate anyone who is willing to work with a small group of students at school to help them on their path towards artistry. Volunteers may also be asked to help document/record sessions that can be used to give student feedback on their class progress.

Website updating: As much as I enjoy this, it might be helpful to have someone serve as some extra arms and legs to help keep everyone updated each week. Website updates will take the place of seeing S'more newsletters at random times.
